The kids love to make all different stars in all different sizes out of oil pastels, They cut them out then glue them down to the oil pastel resist background that also has little colored dots drawn on it in oil pastels to represent distant stars and planets. The challenge for the younger kids is in cutting out the stars but it is really great fine motor skill practice for them . Glueing them down  in a way that shows balance based on size and shape proportions is taught and is part of creating an excellent composition. The kids will learn all about stars, what a star is and how King David praised God for making the moon and the stars and was in awe of how loved we are by God.
