Organic Abstract God Shapes and Lines (K-8th) This lesson is so creative for the kids and so fun. We learn all about organic God shapes and that in all of creation everything God makes is organic. The kids create their own non-objective organic shape work of art as they use balance, proportion and variety as principles of design along with line shape and color as elements of art to create their one of a kind composition. There is a lot of freedom in this lesson as the kids get freed up themselves since there are an endless number of organic shapes they can draw.
In The Beginning God Used Words to Design and Create (4th - 8th) This lesson was something I got really excited about creating because it's important for kids to realize how powerful the Word of God is. This lesson focuses on the creative power of His spoken word and how He spoke everything into existence. There are 7 reference drawings of different words for the kids to use for ideas. There is info about what Graphic Design as an art form since this lesson has words to put together in a graphic design creative way. The kids learn all about emphasis, balance, contrast and proportion as principles of design in this lesson so that they can create a composition that is really impactful to see. The older kids will love this lesson. We used permanent markers and watercolor or tempera paint for this lesson.
Week 2
The Sea and the Light of the Sun (K-3rd) This lesson is all about how God said “Let there be Light” It is a really free flowing lesson and all the kids love making lines and learning about the ocean and the sun. Trying to keep just lines in their composition was the challenge but they were extremely happy with their finished work and every single composition was different. We learn about warm and cool colors and use texture as an element of art in the form of salt which was really fun since salt is in the ocean! The Bible part about God speaking everything into existence in 6 days is really beautiful with the focus at the end explaining that in all His creation the most beautiful and amazing thing He created is us as His kids and that He wants to be our friend.
Abstract Shaped by His Word in Our Hearts (3rd-8th) This lesson is all about organic shapes and lines connected together by an abstract heart that represents our heart. This lesson is another lesson where every work is completely different. The kids loveded starting with a big heart then having freedom to flow off of it using lines to create abstract shapes any way they wanted as non- objective abstract shapes. The lesson focuses on teaching the kids how the elements of art and the principles of design work together to create a beautiful non objective work of art that has meaning to the creator of the work, and can speak to others also. We learned about proportion balance and contrast as principles of design as we filled up the picture plane. The lesson teaches that the word of God is what shapes our hearts, which is why this lesson is so perfect as a tangible way to express this beautiful Biblical truth.
Week 3
God Made the Sun (K-3rd) This lesson teaches about the sun. It teaches how God made the sun and about what a star is. The kids learn the different kinds of stars and some history about stars. They learn that Adam and Eve always knew that God made the sun. They learn some about how scientists realized the sun was a star. This lesson is a sure success and really colorful, and the younger kids really loved making this. The lesson teaches the kids how to draw a great big sun in oil pastels, It also teaches about line patterns and shapes in the different sizes and concentric circles. They learn about warm and cool colors and how to paint in the correct order using yellow first and being very careful to clean their brush between colors.
God Creates Organic Shapes (2nd - 8th) This lesson is a collage and it was a blast for the kids because as they feel more comfortable with creating organic shapes it moves them to cutting abstract organic shapes then glueing them onto lines that are thick and thin but not straight and also organic. This lesson teaches about how creative God is, that he created organic shapes and that He created us and loves us with infinite love! To start the lesson, the kids paint lines in all different colors and thicknesses then glue the shapes that are uniquely theirs to their colored line background. After they get the shapes glued that are different colors they can decorate it further with gel pens of markers. This lesson is really fun and all the work is completely different and unique. The kids learn all about non objective art and that non objective art is all about the principles of design and the elements of art. Line shape and color are taught as elements of art. Proportion, balance, variety and contrast are the principle of design focus. The kids just love to paint the lines!
Week 4

Some of the kids chose to make their planets and suns be in the correct order for our solar system and some of the kids did their own solar systems. The kids learn about shading and how to create a sphere look on a 2D surface using value as an element of art. For this lesson, you will create a painted paper background using black and purple for the universe. The kids thought it was really fun because I hardly ever let them use black! The lesson uses oil pastels to draw the earth and the planets, and watercolor to paint them . The collage is fun because the kids can decide where they want to place what planets,or star. , This lesson also teaches all about the solar system, the stars and the planets . The Bible part focuses on how God created the universe but that in all the universe He knows everything about us and loves us with His incredible love.
God Made the Heavens and the Earth and Night and Day (K-3rd) This lesson is all about the earth. The younger kids loved making this earth. For this lesson, you start by drawing a great big circle in the middle of the paper. I like kids to do this themselves without tracing. Next we add the land to it. We use oil pastels and watercolor paint for this lesson. After the earth is drawn we paint haf the paper black and the other half yellow to represent night and day. The lesson teaches all about how God made the earth. It teaches how the earth is always on the move and about night and day. It teaches about how God put so much detail into the earth because of how He loves us as His children, and He did all of it for our benefit! This is an awesome fun lesson to create that is also really informative in a beautiful way to realize.
